Amazon Music launches podcasts for free across all tiers of service

Amazon Music launched podcasts in the US, UK, Germany and Japan on Wednesday, through its subscription service tiers and with advertising at no additional cost.

For the first time, customers will be able to stream the best podcasts they already know and love, as well as new and original shows produced exclusively for Amazon Music and hosted by creators like DJ Khaled, Becky G, Will Smith, Dan Patrick and more. Amazon Music said.

“Our customers’ listening habits are constantly evolving and we know that they are looking to us to provide a rich experience based on music and entertainment,” said Steve Boom, vice president of Amazon Music, in a statement.

“With this launch, we are providing customers with even more forms of entertainment to enjoy, while allowing creators to reach new audiences around the world, just as we have done with streaming music.

“Podcasts, along with our recent partnership with Twitch to bring live streaming to the app, make Amazon Music a premier destination for creators,” added Boom.

Popular shows like “Crime Junkie,” “What A Day” and “Stuff You Should Know” are available now, and millions of episodes of top shows will be added, Amazon Music said.

Amazon Music will also soon be the exclusive home of the true crime and music podcast “Disgraceland,” a show that explores the criminal antics and connections of some of the world’s favorite musicians, from the Rolling Stones to Tupac.

Amazon Music has also partnered with creators to produce original and exclusive podcasts.

Podcasts are now available to stream on all levels of Amazon Music, including free access on Echo, the web, and the Amazon Music mobile app.
