Step-by-Step Guide to Install a Netgear WiFi Range Extender

With millions of us working from home nowadays due to Covid-19, it is only normal to find your WiFi network struggling to stay stable. Perhaps this is the reason why so many people have turned towards expensive Netgear routers. But, if you need honest advice, then a simple range extender, specifically Netgear EX3700 is a more affordable and reliable solution.

Performing a Netgear EX3700 setup helps in boosting the WiFi network of your existing home router and spreads it even to the dead zones of your house. Although many people have assumed that setting up a Netgear WiFi range extender is a big deal, in reality, it isn’t.

To know how to set up your Netgear EX3700 extender in a hassle-free manner, follow the step-by-step instructions mentioned below.

How to Perform a Netgear EX3700 WiFi Range Extender Setup?

  • Choose the Right Location

Start the setup process by choosing the right location for your extender. Make sure that you place your Netgear EX3700 extender in the center most location of your house. Also, to ensure that its WiFi signals don’t get hampered, keep it away from thick concrete walls, transmitting appliances, cordless phones, baby monitors, washing machines, mirrors, and reflexive surfaces.

  • Connect Your Router And Modem

The second step in line is to plug your Netgear EX3700 range extender into a wall socket. Check whether the wall socket you are using is damage. Once done, press the Power button and wait for the LED light to turn green.

The minute the LED light turns green, it’s time to build a connection between your WiFi extender and home router. And to do that, you need an Ethernet cable. But before you connect your WiFi devices, ensure that the Ethernet cable does not have any cuts or breakage.

  • Launch a Web Browser

Once you have successfully connected your EX3700 WiFi range extender and router, connect to Netgear_Ext SSID and switch on your computer or laptop (whatever you have at the moment). Then, launch a web browser on your system (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, etc).

It is recommended that you keep more than 2 web browsers installed on your system. The reason being, if you face an issue because of a faulty web browser, at least you have an extra browser to back you up.

  • Enter the Default Web Address

Have you launched a web browser successfully? If the answer is yes, then proceed further by entering the default web address mywifiext.net in the address bar. If you own an Apple or iOS device, then enter mywifiext local instead of mywifiext net and hit Enter.

In case the default web address of your Netgear EX3700 extender isn’t working, then make use of the IP address. Not sure where to find the default addresses? No problem. You can refer to the Netgear manual anytime that you want.

  • Fill in the Default Login Credentials

Once the Netgear EX3700 extender login page appears, enter the default username and password and click on the login button. Now, follow the on-screen instructions displayed on the Netgear Genie dashboard and complete setting up your Netgear WiFi range extender.
